Cross & Crescent

While Wild Surfing,I bumped into this site as it did catch my attention in no time...
Delightful blog!!
The publisher named Aftab Arab, is a London-based student, currently studying Graphics Information Design at Westminster University. The visual on top of page--"Let's have a colourful Xmas"--, is one pick we wanted to post here and share wiyh fellow bloggers, even though X- mas is already behind us...

As, for the the two red & black Cs, -- CROSS & CRESENT --, Blogger Arab Aftab says:
"So a few summers ago during the Israeli massacre of Lebanon I became interested in Lebanon and having done research I realised how all religions lived so peacefully together, especially Christians and Muslims, and that really inspired me. Being a Muslim (Sufi) myself, I loved how the two religions were so close and in love.
It really goes well with my Sufi thinking, and so therefore, I wanted to design something as interesting as the unity pendant; this is still an ongoing project."

Haven't we had enough? Democrats '08.

Multiple-award-winning ad exec Rich Silverstein of Goodby, Silverstein, and Partners creator of the "Got Milk?" campaign and the Budweiser frogs, partnered with The Huffington Post to create a poster series for the democratic party.
The posters really speak for themselves, as the typographic layout conjures up powerful images and associations no one could have missed out on.

When Arianna Huffington asked Silverstein to blog about his ideas, he said that since he usually expresses himself best in visual terms, he wanted to see if he could "blog visually."

Featured are the outcome of Silverstein juicy witty brain: three powerful posters.
"Here is my thinking," Silverstein explained. "What if we could TiVo the last six-plus years and play them back - without comment -- for the American people, and let them connect the dots? It's not a pretty picture."
Silverstein's take away message is uncluttered and direct:
"Haven't we had enough? Democrats '08."

Moreover, people were invited to rewrite the posters by adding to the names, events, and slogans in relation to what is suggested in these visuals.

Ideally, said Rich, "the final versions might be three feet long. Given the outrages of the last six-plus years, even that might not be long enough."

Haven't the Democrats won the elections battle already?
Well, with such a mind-blowing communication, I say to the American President, you'd better run away or die...

Flamboyant Street Art

Amazing street art graphics from San Fransisco; photography by Egyptian journalist Hossam el-Hamalawy; for more click here.

Street art is a powerful platform that allows artists to reach the broadest audience through their personal artwork; usually it's all tainted with socio-political messages that aim at producing an effect within the minds of those people that live within the environment being altered, and of course whoever encounters these dynamic drawings.

I LUV PARIS

Ad by BETC Euro RSCG - Paris for the eco-friendly Peugeot 307 HDi

Peugeot is just one of a number of automobile firms which are working on green technology.
Peugeot 307 HDi behaves like a petrol-engined car in terms of performance, emits less CO2 than an equivalent diesel and delivers mind-boggling fuel economy.
Car manufacturers are advertising heavily to attract buyers to start opting for hybrid cars.
This visual is quite creative but it is certainly not a sufficient reason to encourage consumers to pick cars that are seen difficult to fill up, drive and maintain - and expensive to buy.

Let’s start the year on a green light and hope a rosy future for all tree huggers

Here are bubbles of brilliant posters submitted for the spectacular visual arts event, an unprecedented outdoor exhibition as a result of 'The Urban Forest Design competition' held throughout Times Square, NY in 2006.

In this unprecedented gathering of original works of art by the world's most celebrated designers and visual artists, Times Square was the perfect host of this extraordinary exhibition - "Design Times Square: The Urban Forest Project" -- a collection of banners designed by an international roster of over 175 international visual artists and designers who have created banners using the form, idea or a characteristic of a tree as their inspiration.
The exhibit was organised by the AIGA NY Chapter, the Times Square Alliance and Worldstudio Foundation.
The tree is metaphor for sustainability, and in that spirit the banners from the exhibition were recycled into totebags designed exclusively for the project by Jack Spade. Profits from the sale of the totebags went to Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships and the AIGA/NY Mentoring Program to sustain the next generation of design talent.
Among the prestigious brew of participants from the international design scene, some prominent names including New York's Lawrence Weiner, late Alan Fletcher from London, Vince Frost from Sydney, Hideki Inaba from Japan, Uwe Loesch and Fons Hickmann from Germany, Massimo Vignelli, Vaughan Oliver, James Victore, Carin Goldberg, Paula Scher...

Featured above are Sirdab’s favourite artworks, out of the 186 showcased at Central Park.
